On October 7th the Human Ummah Foundation held a long planned and very enjoyable event at the Hyatt Regency in Valencia – our Santa Clarita Valley Heroes Banquet. The banquet was organized in appreciation of two Foundations that serve to support and protect the community: The SCV Sheriff's Foundation and The LA County Fire Department Foundation.
Very gracious and appreciative responses to the event have been flowing in. From Ken Wiseman, President of the Sheriff’s Foundation, came the following words of gratitude:
“On behalf of the Sheriff’s Foundation, and with personal gratitude, I write to thank you for the wonderful support that the Human Ummah Foundation has offered to the SCV Sheriff's Station, our SCV Sheriff's Foundation, and the Fire Department with their Foundation. Your generous donation of funds will go a long way in support of our efforts, and we thank you.”
Messages came in to thank the Human Ummah Foundation for our mission to reach out to the community and show our gratitude, demonstrate our faith and our culture, educate the broader community, set an example for others and dispel any fears that may exist.
The Heroes Banquet was praised as a well-orchestrated, inspiring celebration. The food offered at the banquet was highly praised, as well as the color guard and the pledge of allegiance, the story of Moses, the prayer and the music.
The Human Ummah Foundation would like to thank all who participated in this great event, especially our children, those who prepared the wonderful food, those who donated their time and money – we thank you all.
Once again, from Mr. Wiseman, we offer the following: “The Sheriff’s Foundation stands firm in our shared humanity, knowing that the Santa Clarita Valley can be an example community, where discrimination against Muslims does not take place.”
